Women's Center

The Obstetrics Department at Jersey Community Hospital was born in August, 1954 at its Pine Street location. Our first baby arrived at 12:15 a.m. on August 11, 1954. Since that time, there have been over 14,000 babies born here! We have welcomed 122 sets of twins and one set of triplets. The largest baby born weighed 12 pounds, 9 3/4 ounces and the smallest infant to survive weighed less than 2 pounds.

In 1977, the Obstetrics Department opened at the current Jersey Community Hospital site(400 Maple Summit Road). Then, in 1984, we welcomed a "new addition" which included two larger nurseries and additional patient rooms.

If you plan to have your baby at Jersey Community Hospital, take advantage of our classes... and be sure to tell your friends and family to check the Web Nursery for photos of the new babies!

LDRP Rooms

Couples have the opportunity to deliver in an attractive, homelike LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Post-Partum) room. These rooms accommodate the birthing process from labor throughout your stay and include newborn care. Most complications can be managed in these rooms with the exception of Cesarean Section, which is performed in the operating room.. Once your baby is born and you are getting to know each other, you will be guided through the learning process of caring for your newborn by our caring, family-focused nursing staff.

Because the birth of your baby is a special blessing, we celebrate each new arrival with "Brahm's Lullaby." The lullaby, played over the hospital's public address system, invites everyone to share in the celebration of a new life.
